Do you know about Google Voice?

I didn’t either!! A friend of mine just told me last night about Google Voice and how you can have a free online account, complete with local phone number! This is ideal for those of us with websites that don’t want to put our personal phone numbers on our websites. You can set it to forward to any other number, OR to go right to free voicemail!

From the first email I received from joining: “Google Voice gives you a single phone number that rings all of your phones, saves your voicemail online, and transcribes your voicemail to text. Other cool features include the ability to listen in on messages while they’re being left, block unwanted callers, and make cheap international calls.”  How cool is that??

One thing that I wanted to share here, because I didn’t find it easy to find…was that you can get the code to put a button your site that looks like this:

To find it, after you’ve created an account…go to the upper right side of the screen on your Google Voice account where you’ll see a button that if you mouse over it will give you the option of “settings”…from there you will see a tab called “call widgets”, and that’s where you can create widgets and snag the code to put the button, like what I have above, onto your website!

I’m still playing around with it and figuring out how Google Voice works…so I’ll try to update more later as I learn more…but I thought that bit of info would be helpful to someone, as it took me awhile to figure out where to find that code! 🙂
